I believe we have witnessed a lot of potential artists of a different genre during this month of April! But we are gonna end it with some pop music because why not? Today we are going to talk about MYQL aka Michael and his latest single release. "Closer" is a new track by this up-and-coming musician with meaningful lyrics and not to mention the deep meaning behind this song. Which goes to show that MYQL knows his stuff when it comes to pop music. Let's get to know who's MYQL and all!
MYQL also knows as Michael is a 24 years old, born and raised in the city of Las Vegas. At a very young age around 7 was when he discovered Chris brown and after hearing his music, he got hooked immediately. As a result he became a big inspiration/influence to Michael. Later on, he started to listen to many more singers as he was progressing through the years, singers like Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone, Yo Trane, Usher, Jaicko Lawrence, Kalin white, and many more.. Michael didn’t only just listen to R&B and Pop. He used to listen to metal and rock. Plenty of it bands like Breaking Benjamin, SlipKnot, 30 Days Grace, Chevelle, My chemical Romance, Linkin Park, and one republic.
At the age of 18. he decided to start getting into making music. He used all the money that he was saving up and bought FL Studio with no knowledge on how to use it at all. Everything he learned was from YouTube. He produce/mix and master his own music. He had a bunch of songs he released but, he wasn’t very confident in them so it was taken down. Later on, he sold all of his equipment and just gave up on music. After he quit, he had always felt this burning passion to make music but, he just felt that he wasn’t good enough yet. It didn't stop him right there! He decided to start developing his voice and work on finding what genre he wanted to make. 5 years later, he feels that he have developed enough skill and confidence in his music to share. Michael found out what he wanted to make which was Pop/EDM music. He just love the way that he can vibe on it.
This song (Closer) was about Michael and his past lover who at the time he just couldn’t get enough of. They met at their job both at the age of 19. After seeing her, you can say it was love at first sight. Afterwards, she ended up quitting work and ever since then it just hasn’t felt the same at work. He was always dragging around and felt empty throughout the day. He needed her. He would always visit her after work and enjoyed every moment that they were close together. He had always hated leaving ‘cause he just wanted more and more of her. Later on both ended up going our separate ways and ever since he had just been thinking about her. Eventually moved on but, you can’t escape memories coming back so Michael wanted to make this song (Closer) to explain how he felt when he was with her. "All I needed was her closer to me."
